  • Host: Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) & ITS Korea

DAY 1 | 11 Mar, 2026 14:00-15:20
Korea’s National ITS Framework and Future Mobility Vision

Since introducing ITS policy directions in the early 1990s, Korea has spent more than three decades building one of the world’s most comprehensive Intelligent Transport Systems ecosystems - linking national legislation, long-term master planning, standardized architectures, and large-scale deployments to deliver safer, more efficient, and increasingly automated mobility services. Korea’s ITS today is entering a new phase: from managing traffic to orchestrating connected, automated, and AI-enabled mobility. Backed by a strong legal and planning framework, the ITS Master Plan 2030 and the C-ITS Roadmap are guiding nationwide deployment of digital road infrastructure, while AX-Sprint accelerates AI convergence to deliver real-world service breakthroughs.

AI Is Our Tool, Not Our Driver: Shaping AI for Safer Roads

Artificial Intelligence is no longer a future concept in road infrastructure, it is already shaping how road condition information is collected and understood. Yet uncertainty remains about what role AI should play in safety-critical decision-making. This session explores a practical philosophy: AI is not a replacement for human judgment, but a tool designed to support it. As road networks expand and traditional inspection methods struggle to keep pace with budget, workforce, climate, and traffic pressures, much maintenance remains reactive. By using AI to deliver high-quality, standardized road condition data at scale, engineers gain clearer network-wide visibility. When guided by professional experience, this data becomes actionable insight enabling earlier intervention, better prioritization, and safer, more cost-effective infrastructure management. The session focuses on responsible, human-led use of AI to move beyond hype toward real-world impact.

Deploying 5G-V2X in Real-Road Environments: Challenges & Readiness

As countries move from V2X pilots to large-scale deployment, choosing the right V2X technology is critical. This presentation examines the real-world readiness of 5G-V2X direct communication and explains why it is increasingly viewed as the most future-proof option compared to DSRC and LTE-V2X. From a deployment perspective, 5G-V2X offers scalability in dense traffic, stronger support for advanced cooperative use cases, and a clear evolution path aligned with long infrastructure lifecycles. The session discusses practical challenges such as spectrum usage, interoperability, and mixed traffic environments, and shows how 5G-V2X addresses these more effectively than earlier technologies. The goal is to provide road authorities and ITS stakeholders with a clear, deployment-oriented view of risks, readiness, and long-term value.

From Detection to Simulation: Transforming Road Operations with AI and 3D Digital Twin
Bamboos is redefining road operations through AI-driven incident detection and intelligent digital twin technology. Our vision is to empower road operators with real-time, automated detection, classification, and prioritization of traffic incidents, enabling faster response and significantly reducing operational workload. By transforming complex data into actionable insights, we help operators focus on what matters most—ensuring safer and more efficient road infrastructure. Our advanced 3D digital twin platform provides a comprehensive visual environment to review historical and live events, integrating both dynamic and static data layers for deeper operational awareness. Looking ahead, Bamboos aims to enable traffic simulation capabilities, allowing operators to test infrastructure modifications and anticipate impacts before deployment. Together, these innovations deliver smarter decision-making, enhanced efficiency, and next-generation road management.

BYDA's RTS10: Protecting roads and drivers with proactive ACC
RTS10, BYDA’s core technology,  is the world’s first solution that fundamentally solves a chronic ACC problem — failing to detect stationary objects at high speed.
• Virtual-target based deceleration guidance: Treats a stopped vehicle as a “virtual moving target,” guiding following vehicles to autonomously and safely reduce speed.
• Safety independent of driver attention: Does not rely solely on the driver’s visual detection like cones or flashing lights. Even if the driver is inattentive or the system misinterprets a situation, RTS10 directly intervenes to dramatically reduce the risk of accidents caused by human error.
