With 59 days remaining, Gangneung has completed the main Convention Center (opening late August, rehearsals from September) and is shifting to operational readiness for the 2026 ITS World Congress on October 19–23. Themed “Beyond Mobility, Connected World,” the event at Olympic Park expects around 60,000 participants from over 90 countries and will feature exhibitions, autonomous vehicle and smart infrastructure demos, and drone shows. Focus is now on traffic management, shuttle services, parking, and accommodations to minimize disruption in this mid-sized city’s first city-wide ITS testbed.
