The Gangneung Convention Center, a key venue for the 2026 ITS World Congress, officially opened on 26 August with Second Vice Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Hong Ji-seon attending the ceremony. The vice minister inspected major Congress venues including Olympic Park and called for thorough preparations across operations, safety, accommodations and visitor services for the event, which expects some 60,000 participants from about 90 countries on 19–23 October.
