Seoul plans to deploy 500 autonomous buses into its regular public transit system by 2030, moving beyond pilot runs with prototype development in 2026–2027, demonstrations in 2028 and mass deployment from 2029. Initial operations will focus on median bus lanes and late-night hours, building on the city's late-night and early-morning autonomous bus services already in operation.
