BOD & IPC Meetings Shaped 2026 Gangneung ITS Congress Preparation

From March 17–19, around 50 members of the ITS Board of Directors (BOD) and International Program Committee (IPC) convened in Gangneung for official meetings, on-site inspections, and final reviews of key Congress programs, including technical sessions and site operations. Delegates assessed major venues such as the Gangneung Convention Center, Olympic Park, and Seongyojang, while also participating in networking and coordination events with organizers. With no major issues identified, the visit confirmed Gangneung’s strong readiness to successfully host a world-class ITS Congress. |
💡 AP BOD Meeting The Asia-Pacific BOD discussed key regional agenda items, including the selection of Singapore as the host of the 2028 ITS Asia-Pacific Congress, updates on the upcoming Auckland Congress, and proposed revisions to the AP MOU on host city selection. Additional discussions included a mentorship program initiative to foster ITS talent across the region. |

💡 WC BOD Meeting The World Congress BOD reviewed progress on upcoming events, including Gangneung 2026, alongside reports from Atlanta and future hosts. Detailed updates on Gangneung covered ministerial meetings, exhibitions, demonstrations, and session planning, with constructive feedback provided on transport accessibility, venue connectivity, and high-level engagement to further enhance delivery. |
💡IPC Meeting
The IPC convened with 31 members from three regions to review program development, including plenary and executive session structures, and the status of submissions. A total of 501 papers and 143 session proposals were received, with around 100 special sessions and 83 topic-based sessions being finalized, alongside ongoing peer review and speaker coordination toward April–May confirmations. |
Korea Expands Global ITS Partnerships at Intertraffic Amsterdam 2026 |
A Korean delegation led by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and ITS Korea participated in Intertraffic Amsterdam, held from March 9–13 in Amsterdam, to showcase Korea’s advanced ITS technologies, strengthen global partnerships, and promote the 2026 Gangneung ITS World Congress. Recognized as one of the world’s largest mobility exhibitions, the event brought together participants from 145 countries, with over 900 companies and 30,000 attendees. |
💡Korean ITS Workshop Seven Korean ITS companies presented cutting-edge technologies to over 70 European stakeholders, engaging in Q&A and networking sessions. The seminar enhanced visibility of Korea’s smart mobility solutions and facilitated connections with global buyers. |
💡International Cooperation Meetings The delegation held high-level meetings with key partners, including the International Road Federation, the Malaysian Ministry of Works, ITS Connekt, and ITS Nationals Network. Discussions focused on policy and industry cooperation, participation in the Gangneung Congress, and potential initiatives such as MoUs and joint programs. |
