Greetings from ITS Korea! 🍂

As we welcome the autumn season, we are pleased to bring you the September issue of our newsletter. Over the past months, ITS Korea has been actively engaging in various programs and initiatives, and in this issue, we share key highlights along with upcoming opportunities for our members and partners.

As the nation’s leading professional organization in the field of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), ITS Korea works closely with its members and partners to promote innovation, global market entry, and international standardization. By sharing the latest insights and trends, we aim to support the continued growth of a smarter, safer, and more sustainable mobility future.

ITS Industry Development Forum at National Assembly

ITS Korea hosted a policy forum at the National Assembly on September 10, 2025, bringing together government, industry, and academia to discuss sustainable ITS deployment and industry development. Participants highlighted AI, big data, and autonomous mobility as key growth drivers and emphasized collaboration to reduce regional transport gaps and strengthen the ITS ecosystem.

ITS KOREA Academy : 4th Straight Top Rank in HRD Consortium 

ITS Korea has once again achieved the highest “S Grade” in the 2024 National Human Resources Development Consortium Performance Evaluation (Strategic Division) organized by the Ministry of Employment and Labor. This marks the association’s fourth consecutive and sixth overall recognition, reaffirming its role as a leader for workforce development in the transport and mobility sector.

2025 APEC Smart Mobility Forum Concludes Successfully

The APEC Smart Mobility Forum 2025 convened regional leaders, policymakers, and industry experts to discuss innovative solutions for safe, efficient, and sustainable transportation. Participants shared best practices, explored emerging technologies such as C-ITS and autonomous mobility, and fostered collaboration to advance smart mobility initiatives across the Asia-Pacific region.

K-Plugtest 2025 2nd Half:

Advancing C-ITS Collaboration

K-Plugtest will take place on 27–28 October 2025, bringing together industry, academia, and government stakeholders to advance Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS). The event will serve as a testbed for interoperability and standards validation, while fostering collaboration that accelerates the deployment of safer, smarter, and more connected mobility solutions.

ITS World Congress 2025: Shaping the Future of Smart Mobility Together

The 2025 ITS World Congress brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators to explore the future of connected, sustainable mobility. The Korea Pavilion showcased the nation’s cutting-edge smart mobility solutions, offering a unique glimpse into innovative technologies and collaborative projects—come see the highlights of what unfolded at the pavilion throughout the congress.

Korea Pavilion by Joint Partnership

The Korea Pavilion brought together two public organizations and eight private smart mobility companies, offering networking over traditional Korean refreshments. Visitors experienced K-ITS solutions firsthand, from the smart crosswalk to LiDAR-based parking guidance systems, showcasing Korea’s mobility innovations.

ITS World Congress turns sights to Korea 
The ITS World Congress 2025 in Atlanta concluded with the symbolic handover of the ITS globe to Gangneung, South Korea, host of the 2026 Congress. Gangneung pledged full commitment to delivering a successful Congress in October 2026 under the theme “Beyond Mobility, Connected World.”

ITS Korea and ITS Canada sign MoU  

ITS Korea and ITS Canada renewed their partnership, originally established in 2017, with a new MOU at the 2025 ITS World Congress. The agreement promotes information exchange, SME matchmaking, and joint technology research, highlighting both countries’ commitment to advancing international cooperation in the ITS industry.

Suwon City Honored in Hall of Fame
Suwon City was honored with the Hall of Fame Achievement Award for its leadership in ITS, including emergency vehicle priority signals, smart transport infrastructure, and hosting the 2025 Suwon ITS Asia-Pacific Forum. The award recognizes outstanding local governments advancing intelligent transportation worldwide.
Ettifos」 signs North America V2X agreement

Ettifos and P3Mobility have signed an MoU to co-develop and supply next-generation Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) solutions in North America, combining Ettifos’ hardware and software with P3M’s applications and services. The partnership aims to deliver scalable, cost-effective, and interoperable V2X infrastructure to accelerate adoption and enhance road safety. Both firms will focus on projects offering a competitive advantage, sharing technical expertise, and deploying integrated end-to-end V2X solutions.

LG CNSto establish R&D center in Silicon Valley
LG CNS, an information technology affiliate of South Korea’s LG Electronics, plans to open a research and development center in Silicon Valley. The new center will focus on next-generation core technologies, including AI and a robot foundation model, according to the company. This will be LG Group’s second R&D center in Silicon Valley, following a center already operated by LG Electronics. LG CNS has been expanding its AI capabilities through partnerships with global tech companies, including Canada’s Cohere Inc.
NOVITEC i-Nova Series :
set new standard in ITS cameras 

The i-Nova Series was developed based on years of accumulated experience and cutting-edge technology in the intelligent transportation systems field. This series has been successfully implemented in numerous projects, playing a pivotal role in vehicle information recognition for both parking and road management systems. Notably, the i-Nova2, with over 100,000 units sold since its 2020 launch, is a flagship product that demonstrates NOVITEC 's technological prowess and market credibility.

Kakao Mobility to build smart infrastructure for Saudi Diriyah project
Kakao Mobility Corp., operator of South Korea's leading ride-hailing app, Kakao T, has secured a deal to develop future mobility infrastructure in Saudi Arabia. The project aims to enhance urban transportation systems through the integration of smart technologies, aligning with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 initiative to modernize its infrastructure. Details of the agreement include the deployment of advanced mobility solutions and collaboration with local authorities to improve transportation efficiency and sustainability.
2026 Gangneung ITS World Congress  

As a vibrant coastal city and former host of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, Gangneung offers a unique backdrop as a living testbed for future mobility and cultural exchange.
